Tom Mead is a UK-based author specializing in crime fiction. His stories have appeared in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, Litro Online, Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, Lighthouse, Mystery Scene and Mystery Weekly (among others). The Murder Wheel is a mystery novel by Tom Mead, published on July 11, 2023. It is the second book in the Joseph Spector series, following Death and the Conjuror¹. The story is set in London in 1938 and follows young lawyer Edmund Ibbs as he tries to find evidence that his client, Carla Dean, did not shoot her husband dead at the top of a Ferris Wheel¹. As he investigates, the case becomes more complex and Edmund finds himself drawn into a web of conspiracy and murder. He is implicated in two seemingly impossible crimes: a corpse appears out of thin air during a performance by famed illusionist Professor Paolini at the Pomegranate Theatre, and a second victim is shot dead in a locked dressing room along one of the theatre’s winding backstage corridors¹. Conjuror-turned-detective Joseph Spector is on the scene to help solve the case with his uniquely logical perspective¹.
